Christine MacLean PhD - Director of Virology
Christine joined Vitrology in April 2007 as the Director of Virology,
bringing over 20 years experience in virology within both academic
and biotechnology service industries. Having completed an honours
degree in Pathology at Glasgow University in 1983, Christine then
went on to do her PhD at the Institute of Virology (Glasgow), followed
by a further 10 years in post-doctoral research, nine of those at
the MRC Virology Unit / Institute of Virology. She worked predominantly
in the area of herpesvirus research, using a broad range of molecular,
immunological and cell-culture based approaches to investigate the
function of a number of putative HSV gene products.
In
1996, Christine joined Q-One Biotech, where she remained for 10
years. Having initially joined as Section Head for the R&D department,
she moved to Viral Clearance, where she remained for about 7 years,
reaching the position of Technical Director, before moving to become
the Director of Custom Virology. Christine’s role in Vitrology
will include providing direction to routine and custom virology,
and virus clearance studies.
